NYA Complex is Green

NYA Building

The project has been submitted for LEED certification, the national benchmark for sustainable building and development practices.

By recycling materials from an existing structure for fill, much of the construction waste was diverted from landfills.

One-third of the building’s electricity should be supplied by solar power panels on the south facing roof of the building. See current Live Solar Electric Generation information.

High R-Value insulation has been used for the exterior walls & roof. Low-VOC emitting materials, including paints, carpets and adhesives were used in construction.

Automatic sinks, low flush toilets and waterless urinals reduce water consumption.

Most of the furniture has been manufactured from recycling materials.

The NYA building is the first step toward a revitalization of the Fairfield Hills Campus and has great Town and Community support.
